Championing neurodiversity: introducing our partnership with

ADHD UK

· Charity of the year,Fundraising,Neurodiversity,Wellbeing

Here at Spice PR, we’re extremely proud to be working alongside ADHD UK as our charity of the year. Our established charity PR programme enables us to champion important causes whilst supporting organisations that may have limited funding and resources for PR and marketing support. We’re looking forward to supporting ADHD UK and sharing more about the important work that the charity does.

ADHD UK aims to help both those affected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as well as the people close to them – from family and friends to colleagues and employers. The reduction of harmful stigma, cultivation of awareness and funding of key research are the primary goals of the charity, with the intention of creating a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of those with ADHD.

ADHD can be an incredibly tough condition to live with and the impact is often underestimated. Recent research of over nine million GP records has shown that on average the lifespan of a woman with ADHD is nearly nine years shorter than her peers, and seven years shorter for men. Given that between 3% and 5% of adults and children in the UK have ADHD – an estimated 2.6 million people – support is crucial to help the charity in its work through heightening awareness and fundraising.

CEO of ADHD UK Henry Shelford said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by Spice PR as its charity of the year. Since we don’t receive formal funding, this sort of support and fundraising helps us to further our mission of providing information, support, research, advocacy and awareness for ADHD nationwide.”

Alongside the significant number of people across the country affected by ADHD, it’s a cause that’s close to our hearts as it has a direct impact within our team and we’re familiar with some of the challenges those with ADHD are facing today.

ADHD UK’s funding comes solely from personal donations with no formal grants, making our support for the charity all the more essential to ensure that they can continue their brilliant work!

Sharing news

There is a host of incredible work currently underway at ADHD UK HQ and we’re looking forward to sharing more about this in the coming months. As a small charity with a huge task in terms of addressing outdated perceptions and fighting stigma, raising awareness is crucial.

“PR as a force for good”

To bolster our team on Spice PR’s annual charity campaign, we’re privileged to have the support of Leeds Beckett University – a centre of excellence for PR and communications. Our coveted charity internship programme provides opportunities for Masters' students in PR and Strategic Communications to gain hands on experience and support a great cause, as well as earning credits towards their degree.

Rudiger Theilmann, senior lecturer in PR and communications, said: “The charity PR internship programme which Spice PR runs is a great example of businesses and academic institutions coming together and using PR as a force for good.

“The programme helps charitable organisations whilst our students get an immersive, hands-on experience that is really unique. We had fantastic feedback from those that took part last year, so we’re pleased to be evolving this initiative and delighted to hear that ADHD UK is the charity receiving support in 2025.”
