Earlier this month, Spice PR enjoyed a three-day trip to Malta to host a group of editors and journalists from leading wedding publications at the historic Phoenicia Hotel. The trip was supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and included a day on the idyllic neighbouring island of Gozo, and an exquisite dinner in the walled city of Mdina, as well as a visit to the Phoenicia’s own wedding fair and tasting of local wines.

Situated by the bastions of Valletta, the Phoenicia Hotel dates back to 1939 and has been a favourite of royals and celebrities for decades. Boasting an art deco-inspired interior, the hotel offers 136 rooms and suites, a stunning pool deck set into the city walls, 7.5 acres of mature gardens and a host of wining and dining options. The group savoured Maltese cuisine in the Phoenix Restaurant and the Pegasus Brasserie, and enjoyed cocktails in the Club Bar and the Palm Court Lounge.

The Phoenicia Hotel is a favourite location for Maltese society weddings and with its great value wedding packages, the hotel is keen to attract more UK couples to tie the knot here. Malta is an ideal choice for an overseas wedding; with English being one of the national languages, brides and grooms can deal with any formalities with ease and still enjoy the idyllic Mediterranean climate. Sister-island Gozo provides a heavenly honeymoon spot too, with some of the most romantic beaches in Europe.
