Here at Spice PR, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet HRH The Princess Royal when she visited Redesmere Sailing Club to mark the club’s Diamond Jubilee.

Set on a 25-acre lake in idyllic Cheshire countryside, Redesmere Sailing Club was named as the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Club of the Year 2016, and this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.

As President of the Royal Yachting Association and a sailing enthusiast, Princess Anne paid a visit to the acclaimed club, arriving by helicopter to nearby Capesthorne Hall.

HRH The Princess Royal formally opened the club’s extended foreshore, a major part of its recent renovation project, as well as meeting members of all ages, seeing some of the club’s sailors in action, and going out on the water herself.

Commodore of Redesmere Sailing Club, Stuart Campbell said: “It was an incredible honour to welcome The Princess Royal to Redesmere to celebrate our Diamond Jubilee, and is something we will always treasure.

“We are fortunate to enjoy such an idyllic setting, but the improvements we’ve made over the past year have taken a real community effort from all our members, so it was particularly special to have Her Royal Highness carry out the official opening ceremony, and mark another major milestone for us.”

Other guests in attendance included Elliot Hanson of the British Sailing Team, who began his training at Redesmere, along with the Mayor and Mayoress of Cheshire East and the RYA North West regional chairman.

As well as being widely reported in local news, the royal visit is featured in the September issue of Cheshire Life, out now.
